Cape High’s Career and Professional Academy (CAPE) is a research-based program that integrates a rigorous academic curriculum with an industry-driven career curriculum. Students who complete the academy will receive the highest available industry certification, in addition to a traditional high school diploma.
CAPE academies provide a variety of benefits to students. They increase student-achievements and graduation rates through the use of integrated academy and career curricula, and help students focus on career preparation through rigorous academics and industry certifications. They also assist in promoting additional acceleration mechanisms offered at Cape High such as Dual Enrollment (DE), Advanced Placement (AP), and International Baccalaureate (IB).
At Cape High, students may participate in various Career and Technical Education (CTE) academies. Completion of any of these academies may qualify a student for the Bright Futures Gold Seal scholarship. The academies that are offered include:
- Administrative Assistant
- Digital Design and Graphic Arts
- Hospitality and Tourism
- International Business
- Multimedia Design Technology
- Sports and Recreational Turfgrass Operations
- Television Production
- Game Design and 3D Animation
- Web Development
All computers at Cape High are equipped with the latest software from companies like Microsoft, Adobe, and Autodesk, and include Office 2010, Autodesk 3ds Max 2011, and the complete Adobe Master Collection. Currently, Cape High employs 5 Adobe certified educators, as well as 3 educators certified in Office 2010.
Cape High is an official testing center for both Adobe and Microsoft, and offers students the opportunity to obtain valuable industry certifications free of charge in applications such as Adobe Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and Illustrator, and MS Office 2010.
