The arts and media program at Cape Coral High School includes a diverse array of course offerings and provides a foundation for post-secondary success. Moreover, the arts and media program complements the IB program nicely as some of the arts and media course offerings are woven within the IB program. A graduate of the arts and media program at Cape Coral High School will be well prepared to continue in the arts and media field or to succeed in the finest liberal arts colleges.
The arts and media program consists of the following areas:
Digital Media and Television Production
Cape High’s digital photography classes are designed to teach students necessary skills and knowledge of the art and science of digital SLR photography. Students develop technical skills that lead to the success in digital SLR camera operation, as well as a working knowledge of the language of photography.
Digital photography courses are offered as part of the IB Diploma program. The courses allow students to develop a personal awareness and knowledge of photography as a communication process. Students are taught how to create, manipulate, and optimize images for print and the web using Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator.
- Video Game Design and 3D Animation
- Digital Photography
- Digital and Web Design
The visual arts department is designed to provide students with the opportunity to develop a basic understanding of art and visual expression of ideas through various two-and three-dimensional media.
In addition, students are exposed to the world of digital art through courses such as computer art/drawing and digital photography. These courses place our students on the cutting edge of digital art and prepare them for post-secondary pursuits in the visual arts field. Other advanced course offerings include AP Studio Art, AP Drawing, and AP Studio 3-D.

Vocal MusicIt is the goal of the Cape Coral High School Choral Department to be high quality performance choirs capable and worthy of representing the school, the city of Cape Coral, the County, and the State of Florida in any performance venue. Our responsibility is to continue a tradition of excellence and purpose through dedication, devotion, and hard work.
Chorus provides students with the study of choral literature through rehearsal and performance techniques at the appropriate and achievable level. This ensemble offers a development of musicianship, tone production, and performance techniques beyond those offered in middle school. Chorus is typically the entry-level ensemble for freshmen and less experienced singers with emphasis placed on basic skills and the interpretation of easy to medium level choral literature.
Concert Choir provides students with the study of choral literature through rehearsal and performance techniques at the appropriate and achievable level. This ensemble offers progression to a higher level of musicianship, tone production, and performance techniques beyond those offered in concert chorus. This is a more advanced choir, thus providing additional technical preparation appropriate for all voices.
The Musical Theatre ensemble at CCHS aims to build confidence through acting, movement, and singing. This ensemble provides students with the study of musical theatre literature and choreography through rehearsal and performance techniques at a continuing level.
Ensemble is a full-time advanced, auditioned ensemble. It will meet right after school every Monday. Students will know ahead of time if any cancellations shall occur. Auditions will be held the 1st OR 2nd week of school. The ensemble will be between 12 and 16 members; it will be the core performing group for gigs that require smaller groups as well as Solo & Ensemble assessment. Participation in this group is an honor and requires a great deal of independence on the part of the performers. Attendance on designated day is REQUIRED. Participants are selected by director invitation only to play and/or perform literature at the appropriate high school/college level. Some small ensembles and solos may be selected to perform for Solo & Ensemble MPA.
The dance program at Cape High offers a variety of genres including contemporary, lyrical, jazz, and hip hop. The dance program focuses on combining technique with musicality and also includes choreography. Students interested in being a member of the dance program must audition.
In addition to the dance program, Cape Coral High School is proud of its dance performers, The Hawkettes. The Hawkettes complement the marching band and perform alongside them at football games and competitions.
