Testimonials
One of the primary components of the IB Diploma Program is proving opportunities for self-reflection. Allowing our students a few minutes to take a step back and see what they have accomplished and what they want to achieve next. This is a great exercise in self growth and something we as a program routinely engage.
Here’s what some of our students have said when asked to reflect on their experience in our IB program:
When asked “Why did you initially choose to join the IB program?”
- “I heard from my brother and other people who had previously been in IB that it was a challenging program that led to meeting new people and learning new skill sets and I was interested in those things.”
- “I wanted to challenge myself and be in more advanced classes”
- “My parents and I wanted to give me a challenge, along with giving me a great opportunity to get ahead for college.”
- “I like taking on challenges and I felt as if the IB Program was the best fit for me. I chose Cape High's IB Program because I heard it was a rigorous program but worth it for the long run.”
- “I initially joined general education/honors classes when I came to Cape High, and I felt as though I wasn't being challenged enough. I joined IB to feel motivated to accomplish everything to the best of my abilities and to be around other intellectually curious students.”
Here’s what our students have said when asked to reflect on how well they felt supported throughout the program.
- “I feel there was a lot of caring teachers and everyone involved made you feel better and all wanted you to succeed which is great”
- “I feel like all the teacher made it very clear that they were doing everything in their power to help me succeed.”
- “Our teachers actually care about us and our success and it translates in class.”
- “There is a community this program builds that helps make us feel connected and supported. The teachers are amazing and are not just people that provide an education. I've learned from them, but I have also connected with them.”
Here’s what our students have said when asked to reflect on the biggest strength of the IB program.
- “I think that it covers many different skills sets that help people grow as a very well-rounded person. For example, being in this program really helped me come out of my shell and be able to communicate with people more effectively.”
- “The passion that the teachers have for wanting us to do well in both class and life.”
- “the community that it creates.”
- “The biggest strength of the CCHS IB Program is the teachers and teaching schedule. Everything is spaced out really well for the students to learn everything they need in order to be prepared for the test.”
- “The family aspect of the IB program and how close everyone gets throughout the 4 years at cape high”
- “having teachers that knew what they were doing and were confident in their teaching made me feel more secure in the activities I was doing.”
Our IB program is a community and we value the feedback we get from our students and from their parents. These moments of self-reflection help shape our program towards the best version of advance education available.
We want to foster this sense of community and have routinely asked our IB parents to provide us some of their insight into how they view our program.
Here is what our student parents said when asked What do you believe are the greatest strengths of the CCHS IB Diploma Program?
- “Teachers are extremely knowledgeable regarding requirements and exams. Many teachers have over--prepared my son for the end-of-course exams; their classroom tests were more difficult than EOCs.”
- “Firmly prepares student for college success and enables them to study areas outside of academic fields. CAS encourages exploration of disciplines a student might not otherwise consider.”
- “Advanced curriculum, collaborative approach, peer support and encouragement, prepare to college.”
- “Providing a safe environment for our student to explore through discussion and projects in preparation for college.”
- “The staff strive to do all that they can to help the students to succeed.”
- “Firmly prepares student for college success and enables them to study areas outside of academic fields. CAS encourages exploration of disciplines a student might not otherwise consider.”
- “The diversity of interests it promotes encouraging the children to reach beyond their comfort zone.
We are proud of what our students and parents say about our IB Program. We are constantly growing and shaping our program to meet the needs of our students, to prepare them for their future, and ensure they graduate high school as the best version of themselves.
